Jo’s people skills and strong work ethic have seen her enjoy a fast start to what is now a very successful real estate career. With $150m+ in sales in the past four years, Jo has established a growing reputation as one of Auckland’s fast emerging real estate professionals.
Jo grew up in St Heliers and lived for over 15 years in Remuera and Parnell. Her children went to school in Remuera and her eldest daughter is now living with her and is working at Vodafone in their Graduate programme. Her youngest daughter is in her first year studying a BCom/LLB in Dunedin and her son in his second year studying a BCom in Management and Marketing. Jo is very aware of the importance of zoning for families when selecting a property within ‘their school zone’ and understands these challenges having been through this with her own children who went to school in Remuera and attended Remuera Primary, Kings Prep, Diocesan, Epsom Girls and Kings College.
Jo has a strong sales and marketing background having worked in Corporate Partnerships and Sponsorship, fundraising for several children’s charities including Starship, The Hearing House, Barnardos and 0800What’sUp children’s helpline. She has completed a post graduate Diploma in Business, specialising in Marketing, at Auckland University.
Jo possesses a high degree of professionalism and prides herself upon her integrity, trust and respect. She is highly regarded and respected in the Auckland community for these qualities. Time off days include cooking, sailing, time at the beach and fishing.

Jo Johnstone came with a recommendation to be the right person to sell my property, and from the first point of contact, she impressed me with her warm, personable and professional approach to selling the family home. Jo and her colleague Mark Atterbury worked together to market the property, and from the beginning they installed confidence that they were listening attentively which resulted in an advertising campaign to promote the property to it’s full potential.
They provided and advised on suitable options to market the property. As a result of the successful campaign, there was high level of attendance and interest at the open homes with some repeat viewings. At the open homes, Jo and Mark were punctual and instantly communicated to me the viewing numbers, responses and comments from viewers at the conclusion of each open home.
They arranged weekly meetings after each open home for discussion and suggestions for further advertising and/or marketing strategies for the following week. At these meetings I was also presented with comparable properties in the area to indicate where my property was placed in the market.
My home was successfully sold on auction day and it was wonderful to be able to celebrate with both of them on the day.
The next time I am in the position to sell another home, I would definitely contact either Jo or Mark and I certainly recommend them to anyone selling their home.

It is with great pleasure that I talk about our experience with Jo Johnstone and Richard Cashmore who we listed our home with in March this year 2015. It has been 20yrs since we sold our previous home so dealing with real estate agents isn’t something that we were use to.
I chose both Jo and Richard to work together simply because of the layout of our home when doing open homes but I am quite sure using either of them separately would be just the same. Both Jo and Richard prior to open homes were punctual, polite locked up well and always contacted us when leaving our home.
We were given a report every week and at that meeting suggestions were made to us as far as advertising for the following week. Nothing was a surprise which was great. Our home was sold within six weeks of the first open home. It was lovely to be able to celebrate with both of them on the night it was sold.
