Ian grew up in the South Island. In his mid-twenties he moved to Auckland where he now lives with his wife Kate. They have two children and four grandchildren; it would be fair to say, family has a great emphasis in their daily lives.
In his youth, Ian was an avid sportsman who both played and coached rugby, was a competitive distance runner and a fairly average but keen tennis player. He is a member of the Parnell Tennis Club, the Auckland Racing Club and for some years was involved in owning, racing and breeding thoroughbred horses. Ian has had a busy career in sales and marketing with international experience in the apparel field where he worked for New Zealand's most successful garment company, becoming one of the largest individual suppliers of apparel to both the Australian and New Zealand markets.
Ian has worked in real estate for the last 16 years and during that time has made sales approaching $400 million. With a lifelong interest in residential property, he brings not only experience and commitment to the table for his homeowners but also the practical knowledge of what it takes to market and sell a property. Ian and Kate have renovated and sold many of the homes they have lived in. Kate has a background in both landscape gardening and interior design and is of great assistance to Ian in his real estate career.
Ian's market knowledge and attention to detail is widely appreciated and is acknowledged with buyers and sellers alike, taking him into their confidence. Ian has marketed and sold many fine homes in Remuera, Parnell and the Eastern Bays over the years, with many satisfied clients having enjoyed the benefits of Ian's experience in achieving a premium sale price for their home.
Having family members use Ian's services on previous occasions to sell/buy their own homes, it made sense to list our recent property with Ian and UP RealEstate based on their positive experience. From the outset Ian was heavily involved in the presentation of the property and in this experience, clear communicaton was paramount. Having record numbers through our open homes over the 3 week campaign again illustrated to us that we had made the right decision. More importantly the proof would be in the pudding when it came to auction day; every potential buyer that Ian had introduced to the property throughout the campaign was present resulting in a very competitve bidding environment. It was at this time we knew that Ian had done it again!
Ian is unique in the fact that he cares for the right outcome for both parties, by that he seeks the best price for the vendor whilst ensuring that the buyers transition into their new home is seamless; if you ask me if I would utilise Ian's services again, no surprises here as the answer is absolutely ! Not one but two involvements in selling then buying a new property
Ian is well known to us through family connections so when the time came to consider who to engage to sell our family home in Remuera, we had no hesitation in talking to Ian and asking his advice. Right from the start his approach was very professional, knowledgeable and mindful of the competitive environment.
Once UP and Ian were engaged, the proposal and all the support promised eventuated, and the whole sale process was implemented and executed with efficiency and with excellent communication and thoughtfulness. After regular feedback from the open homes a well thought out strategy session led on auction day to a sale that we were very pleased with.
Once the sales process was completed, attention then turned to the hunt for a new smaller family home. Ian suggested writing a check list of all the attributes we wanted in a new home and he would keep an eye out for a suitable property that matched all our requirements.
Not wanting to commit to a new property until the sale of the family home was fully completed, early the week following settlement Ian encouraged us to view a property through UP that he suggested could meet all the requirements on our list. Indeed it was exactly what we wanted, was new and it did tick ALL the boxes, bar none. Being in a position to move rapidly we did so, and with excellent suggestions from Ian on what to consider as part of the process of undertaking due diligence for the new property, we were able to conclude a purchase agreement within 3 days. This was aided by UP's very good relationship and cooperation with the vendor.
In both the sale of the 'family' home and purchase of a new smaller one, we have benefited handsomely from Ian's experience and thoughtfulness. In addition he has been absolutely reliable and trustworthy in delivering everything that was promised while giving us confidence that the process was under control while he worked unquestionably in our best interests.
We achieved two very satisfactory outcomes and the whole process of selling and then buying was made so much easier and successful by having Ian on our team.

Our family decided to purchase the property in front of our house in Kohimarama with the intention of building a new house on that section. When the new home was near completion we were on the look out for someone to professionally market it. After much research, we decided on Ian McHerron of Unlimited Potential as he was the person who showed the most interest and demonstrated a full knowledge of how to best prepare a new home for sale. Ian discussed with us the many different options and always made himself available to answer the many questions we had. As time went by a decision was made to "dress the house", prepare an advert for the Property Press announcing dates for an "Open home" and, unless sold prior, to set an Auction Date.
With these decisions made, and knowledge of the price we wanted, Ian McHerron went to work with relentless enthusiasm. It was not long before Ian informed us that he believed he had identified a serious buyer. On the third day after advertising the property, a sale and purchase agreement was completed at the price we wanted. What a great feeling it was to see a "SOLD" sticker across the "For Sale" notice on the front fence so quickly.
In short, if we ever have another property for sale we would not go past Ian McHerron. As far as we are concerned he is very professional and "NUMBER ONE" in Real Estate sales.

Ian McHerron recently sold a Remuera apartment for a deceased estate administered by me. Ian handled the different personalities and generations in a multiple-vendor situation with the utmost professionalism, sensitivity and tact. Ian achieved the desired result in just over three weeks, to the satisfaction of all parties involved. Every aspect of Ian's performance was polished and professional, and his commercial guidance was valuable.
I also comment that the in-house marketing team at Unlimited Potential makes an enormous difference; their ability to photograph the property more than once, and to amend the marketing materials with ease, isn't something I've experienced before when selling property.
